Unplug - The Happy Camper is the escape you’ve been meaning to take. Meander a two-lane backroad in the Ozark Mtns of southeastern Missouri where you’ll find this tree-shaded glamper and huge outdoor kitchen/patio snuggled into the pines on the edge of a grassy meadow, a short walk to a crystal clear stream.
Wake up to sunlight and birdsong filtered through towering trees, see millions of stars in a zero-light-pollution sky, enjoy a private campfire with a load of free firewood, 1 minutes walk to the creek for fun wading, crawdad chasing or quiet contemplation.
All this PLUS a huge outdoor kitchen/patio with living/dining space, both open-air and screened areas. (water in outdoor kitchen sink closed in winter, indoor sink available)
The Happy Camper is a 60’s-vibe privately-situated glamper bringing you all the fun of camping in the woods, with NONE of the hassle: 1 queen bed, 1 twin bed, and 2 twin air mattress if needed, full bath, hot shower, coffee service, outdoor kitchen with sink, stovetop and oven (NOTE: outdoor kitchen sink is closed in winter, indoor kitchen sink available), full-sized fridge inside camper, gas grill with free gas tank, and big tables where the family can spread out for meals or an evening playing one of many board or card games provided.
The creek is a short 25yd walk through the forest. Kids love the little fish and crawdads, please catch and release. Chairs are provided creekside.
Whippoorwills, mourning doves, hoot owls, tree frogs, crickets, fireflies, eagles, bats, butterflies, wildflowers and 1000’s of other woodland happenings can be heard and observed around The Happy Camper in the warm months. In the cooler months the foliage is fabulous, the sky is brilliant, winter birds feed at the feeder, eagles overhead, bats, hoot owls, screech owls, fox, rabbits, raccoons and other woodland creatures. Hiking is spectacular in winter as you can see for miles and miles from the vistas.
Roasting sticks for marshmallows or hotdogs are provided if you want to cook over the fire in your private firepit. Or you can use the outdoor kitchen with cooktop and oven for easy meals. The camper has a kitchenette with full-sized fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, blender, coffee service, sink, and dining space.
We are an unplugged place with no cell phone service or wifi, but your cell phone will work at the top of the hill (2 min drive) and both cell service and internet are available in Annapolis (5 min drive).
We homesteaded this eight acres in the forest a few years ago, and have three privately situated rentals in the woods: The Happy Camper, Cabin on the Creek, and Creekside Cottage. Each are hidden in the trees, however you might or might not see another human during your stay.
You have 50+ yards of creek to yourself, signs to show path and your designated area of the creek.
